I had an amazing stay at The Old Map Shop in Wigton! The value for my money was excellent and the room was spacious and comfortable. The location was perfect, with easy access to local amenities and beautiful walks. The staff were friendly, making my stay more fun.
Menu for breakfast could be better with a greater variety of options.

the old map shop villa was even better than our previous stay in wigton. the historical photos and local history books added a nice touch. spacious rooms and a quirky property converted by the owners. great central location for food, drinks, and walks. loved the milk vending machine nearby with butter, eggs, and cheese. can't wait to stay again!

For a one night stay at The Old Map Shop, we had everything we needed. The spacious rooms and historical photos added a nice touch. The quirky property, formerly for sale, has been beautifully converted by the owners. The location was central for food, drink, and walks, with a convenient milk vending machine nearby. The view from the lounge window was great, and we enjoyed a comfortable and relaxing stay.
Can't recommend highly enough this hotel.

I recently stayed at The Old Map Shop in Caldbeck for a few nights and it was perfect. The stand alone building had ample parking and overlooked a charming field of cows. The kitchen had everything we needed, including a filter coffee and plunger. The comfortable bed and pillows made for a restful sleep, and the host was always quick to respond to any messages. The location was quiet and ideal for exploring the village and surrounding area by foot or car.
Strongly recommend this hotel.

The kitchen and bathroom were immaculate. The location was perfect for walking to the village and exploring the area by car. The property had everything we needed for our one night stay. The historical photos and local history books added a nice touch. the owners did a great job with the conversion and we would definitely stay there again.

The WiFi worked! Amazing! And they even provided towels, so you don't have to bring your wet clothes into the bed. Cat Bells is just a short drive away, perfect for when I feel like climbing a mountain.
Oh, how I loved the fact that the nearest airport was so far away! Nothing like a long journey to make a holiday even more exciting.

Bedside tables with drawers would have been a helpful addition.

We had a wonderful stay at the Old Map Shop Villa in Caldbeck. the property was exactly as we had hoped - perfect accommodation, quiet and in a friendly village. It was ideally located for the hiking routes we had planned, and the local pub, tearooms, and shop were all within walking distance. the self-service facility for fresh milk and milkshakes was a nice touch. The host was very responsive to our messages, and the overall experience was great. Cons: Nothing that I didn't like. 😊.

The used sponge in the kitchen was unhygienic and should have been replaced.
